Meet Dalene

4 7 05 032Dalene became interested in raising uniquely colored Quarter Horses, Paints and Thoroughbreds over the years using the land around her beautiful mountain-style log home. She became an avid horse breeder and trainer to some of the most well known pure white and colorful stallions and mares in the equine industry. She later became somewhat of a celebrity in the world of Thoroughbreds; with their unique color were also registered with the American Paint Horse Association, (APHA). Many still refer to her as the world’s leading authority concerning the breeding of white Thoroughbreds.

Dalene’s stallions have been featured in countless articles and magazines throughout the years. When Painted Desert Farm horses were entered in the Kentucky racing circuit events, they gained international recognition. Although she did not intend to gain such attention, her knowledge to this day is sought after by trainers and breeders throughout the world of Paints. Daughters of the world’s leading sires, including Storm Cat, Secretariat and Seattle Slew were included in Dalene’s powerful broodmare collection.  Megson Farms, in Kentucky, has the largest group of these unique Thoroughbred mares.  This legacy is reflective of Painted Desert Farm’s objective to raise healthy, genetically stable, white horses for racing and breeding.

Dalene was able to acquire a gorgeous stallion, Airdrie Apache – bred by Gov. Brereton Jones at Jones’ Airdrie Stud in Kentucky – on the Painted Desert Farm. Airdrie Apache’s lineage later gave way to a beautiful white stallion. This stallion, aptly named Arctic Bright, was then featured as Lone Ranger’s horse Silver in the 2013 Walt Disney movie The Lone Ranger. Dalene took the time and care to develop a majestic line of horses that not only performed but are stunning creatures to behold. This gave Dalene and her horses recognition in the equestrian industry which now has become a legacy for others to follow.
